Even though I want to cook more, tonight’s dinner was one of my Christmas presents. My husband ordered some deep dish pizza. From Chicago. We took a family trip to Chicago at the end of the summer and Lou Malnati’s deep dish pizza was definitely one of the highlights. It was sooooo good. Their sauce had big chunks of tomatoes that were like stewed tomatoes on steroids. In fact, I found myself wondering if they would give me a big bowl of the sauce to eat. The frozen version we had tonight was very, very good. We are definitely planning a return trip!
We planned the trip partly to see our Cincinnati Reds take on the Cubs in the friendly confines of Wrigley Field, and partly to eat at Lou Malnati’s and Superdawg. Except for a Reds loss, neither the baseball nor the food disappointed. We also managed to squeeze in a meal at Harry Caray’s steakhouse. Even though my son’s favorite part of the trip was the buses/el/subway (his favorite ride at Disney World? also the buses), and my daughter’s favorite was the hotel’s indoor pool, we hope to go back and spend more time sightseeing. It didn’t even occur to us to catch a White Sox game, and we spent too much time on planned and scheduled activities. We saw the Skydeck (except for my husband, who preferred to stay in the lobby), the Shedd Aquarium, Museum of Science and Industry, and the Field Museum. All were great, but we had no time to just walk around and explore the city.
